We were founded and incorporated in 1997 and are a non-profit charitable organization. We would like to take the opportunity to share our vision for Christ’s Outreach for the Blind. Our purpose is to create a camp where children can build a stronger self-esteem and meet challenges that will help them achieve a greater independence through a fun and safe learning environment. Our goal is to fill in a service gap usually not met by traditional camps; a camp entirely focused on each participant’s individual needs and abilities regardless of their handicap.
Christ's Outreach for the Blind, the only facility of its kind in Eastern Kentucky, offers 600 youngsters annually the opportunity to share days of fun and exciting activity with other special needs children from all over the country. Special camp sessions provide a unique opportunity for families with visually impaired and physically disabled children to share good times, meet new friends, and learn from each other.
Our aspirations are to build character, confidence, and self-esteem in the lives of the physically challenged. We will strive to strengthen their families and more fully integrate them into their community. By providing unique life experiences, we hope to motivate participants to be independent, responsible, and productive, thus overcoming their fears and dependencies. Our camp will teach each participant that there can be enjoyment, meaning, and purpose in their lives.
